  • Experience in giving face-to-face financial planning advice
  • Strong cultural fit: client-focused and professional manner
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong client relations
Why work for AFH?

Independent; whole-of-market access

Directly authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, our whole-of-market, independent approach means that you can offer your clients the full breadth of financial advice, providing much greater choice to suit their requirements and outlook. We offer advice in areas such as investments, tax planning, retirement planning and corporate pensions to name a few, and are one of only a few IFA firms to hold our own discretionary permissions, allowing you to apply decisions quickly when acting for the benefit of your clients.

Dedicated in-house support and investment expertise

Our professional in-house support teams will help you to deal with the increasing demands and challenges facing advisers such as client administration, technical support, report writing and training. Our in-house investment team of portfolio managers, stockbrokers, research analysts and a chief economist not only deliver investment solutions backed by a deep understanding of financial markets, but also conduct extensive fund research to fulfil the needs and objectives of your clients.

Progressive and stable

AFH was founded in 1990 by chartered financial planner and CEO Alan Hudson. Today we have a 200+ strong adviser team serving approximately 10,000 clients, and over £4 billion of assets under management, making AFH a progressive and stable firm to build your career with. Our in-house compliance team provides a framework of protection for you and your clients, ensuring you can deliver the results your clients need in even the most complex cases when they need them.

Hone your entrepreneurial spirit

Do you relish the opportunity to grow your business and achieve a better work-life balance? Join AFH as a self-employed adviser and benefit from excellent development opportunities and access to a strong support network and extended adviser community. If you’re keen to build up your client base, gain further advice experience and prefer the security of a regular income, then you may want to consider the employed adviser route. Get in touch with us to discuss the adviser route to suit your career goals.

Remain client-focused

At AFH, our success and strategy have been built on maintaining and developing long-term relationships with our advisers and clients alike. Headquartered in the West Midlands, our adviser reach spans much of the UK, enabling us to serve clients regardless of location. Although we have grown rapidly through a number of carefully chosen acquisitions, our approach has always been to use our increasing scale and buying power to reduce costs for clients – they’re at the heart of everything we do, irrespective of the service proposition a client chooses.

Ongoing support and development

We pride ourselves on providing our advisers with continued professional development opportunities and training through our newly integrated learning management system, alongside educating advisers about industry and market changes in our monthly consultant meetings. Through your attendance at these monthly meetings and further structured training sessions, AFH can contribute to your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours.

Flexible practice buy-out

If you’re keen to slow down, or preparing to retire, our flexible practice buy-out option may be suited to you. AFH can provide support with a structured, sensitive but simple handover to ensure your client bank is looked after once you retire, and retains its value, thereby providing peace of mind for you, your loved ones and your clients. Get in touch to find out more about our flexible exit strategy.

What our advisers say about us

“I wanted a compelling client proposition that provided our clients with something over and above what we were able to provide previously.” – Andrew Smith

“AFH was far and away the most attractive proposition, both for me and for our clients.”– Jan McDonald

"My clients are happy in the knowledge that a professional investment team are regularly reviewing and monitoring their portfolios, with regular reporting in place for them. This leaves me with more time to consider other areas of business." - Andrew Bandura

“Having joined AFH, I have found all the staff very helpful and willing to show me the new processes. They have made the transition from owning a company to working with AFH a much easier one.”– Kevin Hobbs
“I believe my clients will get an enhanced level of service, now that I can call on the in-house expertise of the whole AFH group. The significantly larger back-up resources in AFH will allow me to spend less time on the computer and more time with my clients.” John Walpole
