Damian Cross, one of our recent recruits, has a great service for clients in his sights, as he squares up to the latest stage of an action-packed career.
Lancashire-born Damian joined the financial services profession three years ago, but it wasn’t his first career choice.
After college he fulfilled a childhood ambition to join the Army and spent 12 years in the Royal Military Police, serving in Cyprus, Oman, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq and the Falkland Islands.
It was while he was stationed in Germany that he met and married his wife. They moved back to the UK when he left the Army in 2011, at first for a career in private security.
“All that changed in 2015, when my son was born,” Damian said.
“I still wanted a challenging career, but now it had to give me the time to enjoy my family. I love meeting, getting to know and helping people, and after considering a lot of options I realised that becoming a financial adviser ticked all my boxes.
“I’d heard other advisers talk about AFH and the way it served its clients, and it seemed the best place for the next stage up in my career.”
Damian’s next step is to qualify for Chartered status, an ambition AFH is keen to support.
“We want to support our advisers to be the best they possibly can be,” explained AFH’s head of business development Dawn Walker-Bennett.
“Damian already has a great skill-set, and his ambition and determination to deliver an ever-improving service to his clients means he’ll be a great fit with the AFH culture.”
