Independent Financial Adviser

About me

I joined the industry way back in 1976, working in an actuary department at Yorkshire General, now part of the Aviva group.  I worked in the city until 1983, when I was promoted to manage the Brighton office.  This involved managing 10 staff and 6 sales inspectors.

Sadly, the branch closed in 1987 and, as I had then moved to Brighton, I was keen to continue to work locally and joined a firm of financial advisers, Bateson & Payne. In 1999 myself and Nigel Poole, another AFH financial adviser, bought the company from the owners and set up Harvey Curtis Associates.

In 2018 we joined AFH Wealth management.

My background has always been pension planning and the majority of my clients have now retired and I assist them with their income and capital needs in retirement, together with inheritance tax planning.

Qualifications

I hold the diploma in personal financial planning as well as the qualification to advise on pension transfers, i.e., moving funds/benefits from one arrangement to another, in order to fulfil a client’s needs in relation to planning their retirement.
