Become a trainee IFA

Our 18-month training programme will give you the opportunity to gain on-the-job experience around the whole of the business, developing a range of skills needed to become a successful IFA. The first six months will be spent with our administration teams, including New Business, where you will gain valuable knowledge regarding standards within the financial sector.

Following on from this, six months will be spent with our Investment team. Through shadowing you will gain insight into the wider role of investment managers and learn about all aspects of our investment function.

For the remaining six months, you will join our Advice & Regulatory Support team, where you will gain both analytical skills and technical regulatory knowledge. 

Alongside gaining valuable work experience, you will work towards achieving the CII QCA level 4 diploma. This should be completed by month 18 of your traineeship through self-study, but with the support of the business. The AFH trainee programme will not only provide you with an understanding of our business model and internal functions, but with a broader insight into the financial services and IFA marketplace.

Once you have completed the programme, you will work with an AFH sales director to plan your gradual ‘exit strategy’ into an AFH IFA role. This will initially be on an employed basis but with a structured approach to transitioning into a progressively self-employed IFA role.
