About me
Since graduating with an Economics degree from Cardiff University many moons ago, I have worked all my life in the financial services sector with many years managerial experience in a Bank and Insurance Company.
I took the decision to work on behalf of clients, not an organisation, in January 2006 when I became an Independent Financial Adviser and in January 2017, when I became directly authorised with the Financial Conduct Authority, Kevin Benstead IFA Limited was born. However, the opportunity to join a thriving, client driven company such as AFH Wealth Management was too good to turn down and I started with them at the beginning of November 2025.
I have always seen my role as providing clients with an excellent financial planning service which will enable them to achieve their objectives throughout their lifetime, which are the values and behaviours I see shared by AFH, and why I believe they are well suited for my client base.
Away from work I take a keen interest in sport, especially football where I am a season ticket holder of Manchester United and am the chairman of my local cricket club where, despite retiring several years ago, I will still help out on a Saturday afternoon if pushed.
However, of most importance to me is spending time with my family which includes Ruth, my wife, 3 children and 2 baby grandsons, whilst not forgetting our 3 little dogs who tend to dictate our lives and the plans we make!
