AFH announces two key appointments to drive launch of new Partnership proposition as it enters next stage of strategic growth

AFH Wealth Management has made two new senior appointments to support the next phase of our ambitious growth strategy.

Previously at St. James’s Place (SJP), Iain Rayner, former Chief Operating Officer, and James Fogarty, former Head of Acquisition, join AFH to drive new growth initiatives, which include the launch of a Partnership proposition to attract owner-managed businesses.

Iain Rayner will join AFH as Chief Commercial Officer from January 2026 and James Fogarty has joined this month, taking on a new role of Recruitment Director, with a focus on adviser recruitment.

AFH Founder and CEO, Alan Hudson, explains:

“Over 35 years, AFH has successfully grown from a small Worcestershire-based IFA practice to a UK-wide firm with more than 200 advisers supported by 500 employees who together, take pride in a client-first culture.

“We’ve had different routes for financial advisers to join us, whether employed or self-employed, plus we’ve been successfully buying advice businesses for the last two decades, including those that want to retire from the profession knowing there’s a safe home for their clients.

“We are continuing that strategy, however as we look forward, the next phase of our growth is to supplement inorganic activity and target double-digit organic growth, including developing a proposition for those that are looking to build a business.

“We want to be the home of choice for dynamic, ambitious, entrepreneurial advisers who want to join us in the knowledge that their succession strategy is both secure and something that they can be confident in, whenever that may be.

“Iain and James’s appointments are key, and I look forward to working closely with them and the wider AFH team on realising our growth ambitions.”

Iain Rayner brings more than 20 years’ experience in financial services, 17 of which have been at SJP. As Chief Operating Officer, a post he held since 2015, Iain’s responsibilities included establishing and maintaining relationships with its largest 50 businesses and its succession planning scheme.

Speaking of his new appointment, Iain Rayner says:

“I’m excited to be joining Alan and the team at AFH in January. What I see in AFH is an entrepreneurial, founder-led culture that puts people at the heart of its decision making. AFH is a business that has all the ingredients to be one of the clear winners in the next exciting phase of the development of the UK financial advice industry.”

James Fogarty joins AFH following 14 successful years at St. James’s Place, where he served as Head of Acquisition, leading a national recruitment team of 12 charged with recruiting experienced advice professionals. In that role, James specialised in identifying and onboarding large financial advisory businesses with established client banks.

On joining AFH, James Fogarty says:

“I’m thrilled to be joining AFH at such an exciting time in the company’s journey. I look forward to building on the strong foundations already in place and helping to bring in high-calibre talent that will support AFH’s vision for the future.”
