On track for impact: AFH hits major fundraising goal

We’re delighted to announce that AFH has reached its original £12,000 fundraising target for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, with four months to spare!

This means that thanks to our fund-matching pledge, the total donation to the hospital so far this year is £24,000!

This incredible milestone reflects the passion, generosity, and determination of our people. From skydives and endurance rides to bake sales and fun runs, our colleagues have gone above and beyond to support a cause close to the hearts of our people.

Each year, we invite our community to vote on a shortlist of causes to support over the next twelve months. Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity was chosen for 2025, and the fact that so many of our colleagues have personal connections to the hospital, whether through their own experiences as children or through their families, it’s easy to see why.

Fundraising helps Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity make the hospital feel more like home for its young patients. Donations support pioneering research and new treatments for childhood diseases. Their mission is to raise the vital funds needed to make a lasting difference for every child and family who relies on their care.

Here are some highlights from our fundraising journey so far:

  • Summer skydives: Five brave colleagues from across the business, Ethan Patterson, Barney Ledwidge, Maddi Cull, Sophie Round, and Olivia Vivian jumped from 13,000ft over June and July, raising over £2,500 between them.
  • Endurance cycling: our Marketing Manager Rob Edlington took on 250km in the Brecon Beacons, despite extreme weather.
  • Bungee jump: Finance Manager Simon Robson took a 160ft leap at Cliff Lakes Waterpark, Birmingham.
  • Distance challenge: From dog walks to countryside hikes, our ‘100 Miles in May’ team kept moving to raise funds.
  • Great Birmingham Run: Colleagues completed the Birmingham 10K and half-marathon in early May.

We’ve also had lots of fun with raffles, bake sales, cream tea day and our charity football match and fun day, bringing colleagues, friends, and families together to support to support a truly meaningful cause.

What’s Next?

We’re not done yet! On 20 September, our dragon boat team will race at Mailbox Birmingham against over 50 local businesses such as Gymshark, HSBC UK, and Goldman Sachs. With 17 paddlers ready to make waves, we’re excited to keep the momentum going. Please sponsor the team if you can! https://birminghamchildrenshospitalcharities.enthuse.com/pf/afh-financial-group

Thank you to everyone who’s donated, participated, and supported us so far.

Together, we’re making a real difference for children and families who need it most.
