For myself, I am now able to enjoy my retirement, secure in the knowledge that, in selling my business to AFH, I have made the right decision both for myself and for my clients.
I established Britton Financial Ltd in 2009. Based in Colchester, I was directly authorised with the FCA and ran the business as the sole Financial Adviser advising private clients, supported by a paraplanner.
After 25 years in the industry, I had built up a successful business and at the age of 68, I felt the time was right to move into retirement and for younger advisers to take over.
I started to look for a suitable new home for my clients in 2017 and engaged with a Broker who was extremely helpful and we looked very carefully at the various options available to me.
Having met with Alan Hudson I felt that there was a connection and was particularly impressed with his integrity. I felt he was someone I could trust. Other acquirers offered a slightly better deal, but I had more confidence that AFH would provide a better home for my clients and I could retire knowing they would be looked after, which was my main priority.
From the outset, I was most impressed with the way the acquisitions team expedited the purchasing process, ensuring it was as flawless as possible for all concerned and bringing the whole exercise to a speedy conclusion with the utmost efficiency in November 2017.
After completion, most of my contact was with the AFH sales team and finance department. On every occasion, I remained impressed by the professionalism and dedication of both their head office and field-based staff.
When selling a financial advice business, one major concern of the principal is certain to revolve around how well the clients will be looked after in the future. I quickly discovered that I need have no such concerns regarding AFH, as the company has strived to ensure clients receive the highest possible standards of service, with integrity and compliance support forming the cornerstone of the sales operation.
My advice to anyone looking to sell their practice would be, to look at the options available, make the comparisons so you are clear in your mind that the firm is the right choice for you and your clients. It is a personal choice, I wouldn’t change anything about the decision I made and I feel able to recommend AFH without reservation.
